Southside Youth Senter Awarded $35,000 Khan Academy Learning Centers Grant

The Southside Youth Senter was recently awarded a $35,000 grant that will expose children to an internet based, world-class teaching tool known as Khan Academy.  This project will provide a computer lab and technology-driven presentation center.  Construction is expected to begin in September.

This grant will make it possible for Southside Youth Senter children to make use of Khan Academy’s extensive library of content, including interactive challenges, assessments and videos.  Not only will the SYS instructional staff have unprecedented visibility into what SYS children are doing and learning on the Khan Academy web site, SYS parents and teachers will have access to the same information.

Khan Academy is a world renowned non-profit with a single goal of changing education for the better.  The Southside Youth Senter Board of Directors and Administration are working towards making Khan Academy the centerpiece of its After-School Program and encouraging children to want to be life-long learners.  This project is being made possible through funding from The Priddy Foundation.
